Background
Mareike studied law at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, Germany, and at Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, GA. She completed her legal clerkship at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Hamburg, during which she worked, among others, at the Freshfields offices in Hamburg and New York. She received her doctorate (Dr. iur.) degree from Bucerius Law School.
After her legal clerkship, Mareike worked as an attorney at Freshfields in Hamburg for several years. Subsequently, she served as a judge in civil law matters as well as in criminal law matters with a focus on white-collar and tax crime, including social security fraud.
Mareike is an attorney-at-law as well as a certified tax advisor. She also regularly serves as an examiner for the bar exam in Hamburg.
